Every AFL Clubs Fantasy Football Christmas Wish

Merry Christmas fantasy footy fans. What a crazy 2020 it’s been. With the preseason for 2021 well underway I decided to share what I believe every AFL clubs Fantasy Football wish would be this Christmas.

Over the last few seasons, Matt Crouch has teased us that he’s ready to step up into the top tier of premium midfielders. We saw it for the back half of 2020, and for Christmas, the Crows would want 22 games just like that.

It’s pretty simple. For Lachie Neale to back it up and dominate again.

Carlton gets a double wish, but it’s all linked to Zac Williams. They’ll be hoping for an injury free season and that he provides the much needed midfield support to Patrick Cripps.

For everything to click for a former first round draft pick for Jordan DeGoey, he becomes a premium in 2021. Much like it took time and patience for Christian Petracca and Patrick Dangerfield, Pies fans will hope the same happens for JDG. At his best, he’s one of the most dynamic players in the game

That Jye Caldwell will flourish in an inside midfield role and become a top ten forward.

For Caleb Serong to follow Jack Macrae and Clayton Oliver’s footsteps and establish himself as a genuine midfield premium in just his second season.

An injury free season to star midfielder Josh Kelly. He’s the forgotten premium in coaches starting squads. If he plays 20+ games, he’ll be among the most influential fantasy scorers in the season.

PS. He may be in all my starting squads right now.

Jeremy Cameron’s arrival is so successful as a forward target that it allows Patrick Dangerfield to return as a full time midfielder. Should this happen we’ll not just have the clear top forward, but a genuine candidate for the top scoring player.

A healthy Matt Rowell, a points scoring machine that even when this guy farts he produces AFLFantasy and SuperCoach points. Simply a joy to watch and player we’ll all have for many seasons to come.

Tom Mitchell returns back to his full beast mode season of 2018. We could all do with another 129 season average.

Remember the title of this article; it’s Christmas wish. Doesn’t have to be realistic. I wish for a new house this Christmas, it’s not going to happen, but I can wish.

Melbourne would love to get Angus Brayshaw back to his consistent 100+ scoring days.

Will Phillips does what many believe impossible and replicates the fantasy footy scoring of Sam Walsh from his debut season.

Across fantasy footy circles the ‘third year’ breakout is held in high esteem. For Port Adelaide, they’d love a three-peat of this. That all of Zac Butters, Xavier Duursma and Connor Rozee breakout in 2021.

Just 12 months ago the Tigers gave us one of the most popular cash cows of the season in Marlion Pickett. For Christmas this year I wish that Richmond do it again with former first round selection Riley Collier-Dawkins. Hey Dimma, it’s time to unleash the beast!

St Kilda would have a few, but if Jack Steele can replicate what he did last year in full length games, we’d all be pretty happy. If not that, that then a bargain basement Dylan Roberton averages 80 over the first six games.

Maybe wishing for 22 games from Buddy Franklin is too much to ask. But if we can get him through the first 10 games of the year that will be enough. So much value for a proven performer if he can get fit.

Find a way to get Alex Witherden into that settled back six. It’s a SuperCoach and AFLFantasy match made in heaven if he can crack that best 22. A high possession game style that maximises ‘kicks and marks’ is perfect for ‘Witho’.

That the midfield rotations land perfectly to help all premiums deliver big numbers. This is a big wish, but if Adam Treloar, Marcus Bontempelli, Jackson Macrae and Josh Dunkley can all match it near their best, then it could well be the greatest Christmas gift of all.
