Jared Polec a Roo

This isn’t the first time I’ve penned a trade article about Jared Polec. At the end of 2013 he was granted a trade ‘home’ to South Australia citing homesickness. 5 years on, and with a grandfather style offer Polec has yet again moved clubs.

All that said, Polec is a fantastic addition in a pure football sense for North Melbourne. He’ll add much needed outside run, polish and class for a side that is desperately crying out for extra outside midfield support. Over the past few seasons he’s been critical to the Powers inside 50 movements and with the like of Ben Brown inside forward 50 he’s a much welcome addition to a midfield that has plenty of grunt but very little finesse until now.

In AFLFantasy, Jared’s seasonal average was up 10 points from the previous year to 92, while in SuperCoach he jumped up 13 points to average 94. While this jump isn’t enough to make him relevant in the salary cap formats this year he was still a popular draft pick up option as an 6th or 7th on ground midfield option.

I expect him to average similar enough again to get him draft relevant and even in daily fantasy depending on the right club match ups. It’s a safe pass though for mine in salary caps, as he too reliant on other getting the ball too him to have any confidence he’ll get enough footy to average over 100.
