Jasper Pittard the Kangaroo

It caught many by surprise (myself included) when Jasper Pittard was partnered with Polec in his trade from Port Adelaide. It’s clear the with all the player North either have currently secured (or look likely too) that they have a clear focus on recruiting player that posses the ball and a desire to break the lines.

While Jasper does have some deficiencies to his game (most notably his decision making) he does love to take the game on and advance the ball forward as a 70 metre player. When he’s on he is a high quality running defender and Roos fans will be hoping he can get back to his best.

In 2016 he was included in the All Australian squad of 40, he averaged 22 possessions a game and averaged 82 in AFLFantasy and 91 in SuperCoach. That season in AFLFantasy he went over 90 in 10 matches and 4 scores in triple figures. In SuperCoach, he also had 10 scores of 90+ and 6 scores of 100 or above.

If, and it’s a big IF he can recapture this form, fitness and role he does present some potential value as he’s coming off a year where he averaged 70 in AFLFantasy and 67 in SuperCoach.  He needs to certainly be kept on the watch list and considered if you’re looking for a mid-price defensive option with upside.
