Early in the 2018 fantasy footy pre-season Ryan Clarke was one of the mid-price defensive options that was getting plenty of attention. For a good reason too, in AFLFantasy his final 5 scores of the 2017 were: 81, 101, 85, 78 & 104. While in SuperCoach, he scored 81, 88, 74, 65 & 112.
While he showed plenty of potential in multiple games this season across all formats, he still struggled to average over 70 in either AFLFantasy or SuperCoach.
Does a move to the Roos boost his fantasy output? Here lies the big question!
What does fascinate me about Clarke and the Swans in general is how the structure up and their game style for their side next year. Does Callum Mills get moved more up into the midfield? If so, Clarke could find himself with greater responsibility especially if Sydney’s game plan chooses to use his ability to run and carry.
For mine, despite possessing plenty of fantasy skills especially at under 18 level and demonstrating some line breaking speed I’m unsure right now if he should be high on your watch-list.
