Jordon Butts is a Western Bulldog. Here’s what it means for the Dogs’ defence, the Crows and your 2027 AFL Fantasy and SuperCoach side.

How many times have we watched a monster key forward take the Dogs apart? Butts is the fix. He isn’t elite at any one thing. What he does is lock down the opposition’s number one tall. That lets Khamis and O’Donnell drop back into their natural roles instead of playing undersized on key forwards.

For Adelaide, the compo pick might be worth as much as Butts was. Keane and Borlase are now their top two. The bigger story is the heat this puts on North Melbourne. If they want Nick Murray, they’ll have to pay overs.

The fantasy verdict is simple. Key position defenders rarely matter, and Butts (SC 53.4, AF 42.2 from 9 games in 2026) is no exception. There’s one small knock-on worth watching, though. It could help Bailey Dale.
