Rowan Marshall is a Cat. As Geelong’s number one ruck, he could be the top-scoring ruck in AFL Fantasy in 2027. Lock him in.

Geelong missed Rowan Marshall last year. They’ve got him now. I break down what he adds to a list that’s primed for another flag, and why his work around the ground matters more than his hitouts. Plus where this leaves Mitch Edwards, and why it could be the perfect handover in two or three years.

For St Kilda, this corrects the sins of the past. A 50/50 ruck/forward split between Marshall and Tom De Koning was never going to work. Both are at their best running the opposition ruck into the ground. Now TDK gets to play to his strengths, and the Saints have real structural options.

Then the bit you’re here for. In Rounds 17 to 19, as the sole ruck, Marshall went 118, 134 and 139 in AFL Fantasy and 133, 122 and 169 in SuperCoach. That matches the three seasons before 2026, when he averaged over 100 across the formats as the number one ruck. There’s about 20 points per game of upside in his price. I also make the case for TDK at R2 as your stepping stone ruck.
