With the 2023 SuperCoach, AFLFantasy & DreamTeam season officially over, it’s time to review the year in full, one club at a time. Next up for our 2023 Fantasy Footy reviews is the Brisbane Lions.
On a beautiful Thursday evening in Ipswich, the reigning premiers Geelong took on the Lions at Brighton Homes Arena. We’ve got plenty of fantasy-relevant names to discuss, so let’s check out my game review.
After a failed attempt to leave the Bulldogs a few seasons ago, Josh Dunkley got his wish and found his way to a footballing life outside the kennel. As a Lion, I believe he’s the most relevant player in SuperCoach, AFLFantasy & DreamTeam for 2023. PLAYER PROFILE Name: Josh DunkleyAge: 26Club: Brisbane LionsPosition: Midfield/Forward 2022 Highest
Will Ashcroft is the #1 most selected player across SuperCoach, AFLFantasy & DreamTeam. Is it a warranted selection?
The Brisbane Lions couldn’t have had a better offseason with the quality of players they added to their squad. One of the more unheralded but potentially most valuable is the recruitment of former Essendon defender Connor McKenna. The Irishman isn’t just a key for the Lions; he has huge relevance for fantasy coaches in 2023.
The 2022 season of Lachie Neale will go down as one of his best. However, it’s another season of wasted opportunities for the Brisbane Lions. Having stocked up over the off-season, is it now the time for Neale to carry his side to premiership glory?
Can Jack Gunston wind back the clock and become fantasy football relevant again?
Is Dan MCStay relevant in fantasy football for 2023?
Coming off the back of winning a Brownlow Medal, expectations were sky-high that Lachie Neale would continue his fantasy footy dominance. However, a combination of injuries across the year stunted any of those opportunities. After an injury-free pre-season, Neale is primed and ready to re-establish himself as one of the best premium players in fantasy footy.
Nobody is discussing or seemingly starting Jarryd Lyons. Yet, he was one of the best premiums of the year & has no signs of slowing down.
