For years Tom Hickey has teased us from a fantasy perspective.  However, a combination of some injuries and also the Saints torn between whether he or Billy Longer should lead the Saints ruck division has seen him be inconsistent in terms of what he’s delivered.

If you go back to 2016, he played 20 games averaged 78 in AFLFantasy and had 8 scores of 80 or more including 4 scores over 100. While in SuperCoach that year, 9 times he scored over 80 including 4 hundreds, one of which was a 157 against Port Adelaide.

Let’s be clear, he’s only going to get games in the Eagles side as a Scott Lycett replacement & will likely lose his spot in the side the moment Nic Naitanui is ready to return to the AFL.From my perspective the Eagles would much rather the flexibility of Nathan Vardy to partner with NicNat given he’s a much more rounded tall than Hickey.

While he has shown some fantasy potential, this was as a solo ruck at the Saints, and if the past structure of the Eagles is any indicator I expect them to roll around with 2 ruck options, meaning his time in the guts will be restricted.

A strong pass in the salary cap formats of the game, and would only be a viable option in a draft format if you handcuffed him with Nathan Vardy and were playing a strategy were you were minimising the value of a ruck and picking them up super late in a draft.
