In season 2019 we thought we’d approach our weekly captaincy articles from a different perspective. Rather than just giving a ‘top 5’ for the formats and explaining reasoning (which we have done previously) we decided to have all past winners (and the person the competition was inspired by of the Nobel Koel (our coach of the year award) to share with you a captaincy and vice-captaincy option for each week.

The difference with this year’s captaincy advice is they won’t be telling you who is the best captain selections overall or even ranking them, but instead explaining given the players they have available who’ll they will be selecting and why!

Rainman:
VC Macrae hasn’t left off from last year so think he goes well again.
C Matty Crouch should be good against the Roos and gets the armband

Dave:
Going with Treloar as my VC this week again who could go large on Friday night. Having Danger in the wings as the go-to C if needed.

Russ:
VC: Treloar can go big against the Dogs. He will bounce back nicely this week. 125+ C: Neal won’t slow down so he’s my pick. 130+

Bakas:
VC – A solid 129 last week sees Brayshaw get the gig again. Hewett likely to go to Oliver so won’t have to worry about a tag. C – Can’t go past the red hot form of Whitfield averaging 134 so far. I expected him to have some extra attention paid to him last week so it’ll only be a matter of time.

Troy:
VC: I think Brayshaw can go big against the Swans. He a possession machine. C: Danger has a great record vs GWS so he’s my pick.

Rainman:
VC Macrae again for all the reasons above C My man crush Cripps is in full beast mode and that should continue against the Suns

Dave:
Grundy is my VC man this week in SuperCoach with Danger as the backup Captain.

Russ:
VC: Grundy will go huge against English and with Fyfe most likely an out he will be my zero for the week. 140+
C: Neal again here, love having this guy in. 135+

Bakas:
VC – Grundy coming against English will be a popular choice for the VC this week.
C – Boring but Danger at home against the Giants With Tim Kelly in doubt, Danger will be even more pivotal in the centre square.

Troy:
VC: I think Grundy will do well against English and could bring Paddy Bines in for another armband.
C: Danger might have to step in if Grundy fails.
