Impact on Old Club:
The Giants of 2021 will need to look drastically different from that of previous years. It’s more due to the departure of another core forward from GWS in Jeremy Cameron.
Great Western Sydney will be forced to restructure that forward line, if not the game style. As a result, the loss of Zac Langdon, who was a fringe player for them is hard to measure. A damaging small forward is still a need for the Giants, but they seem committed to turning Ian Hill into that player.
Impact on New Club:
For over twelve months, Willie Rioli has waited to hear news of when he’ll be able to commence games due to his ASADA ban. At the time of writing, nothing has officially been spoken about a timeline on this. For this reason, the Eagles, who have a relatively tall forward setup have decided to bolster their small forward stocks.
They have the consistent Jamie Cripps and electric Liam Ryan, but he isn’t a traditional small forward. His ability to get up the ground (and get up in the air) is something that every side would love to have.
Rather, Langdon will be battling for a spot in the side against Jack Petruccelle, Jarrod Cameron and Rioli should he be cleared soon. He’s no certainty of games, but he beefs up the small forward depth for the Eagles.
Fantasy Summary:
If you play as small forward almost exclusively, then your fantasy ceiling is going to be limited regardless of the team you play for. However, by heading to an Eagles team that boasts a pretty potent midfield his chance of many opportunities and by osmosis a fantasy ceiling is almost zilch.
A helpful addition to the Eagles squad, but zero positive fantasy output.
