Koel Kings: Captains Round 3

In season 2019 we thought we’d approach our weekly captaincy articles from a different perspective. Rather than just giving a ‘top 5’ for the formats and explaining reasoning (which we have done previously) we decided to have all past winners (and the person the competition was inspired by of the Nobel Koel (our coach of the year award) to share with you a captaincy and vice-captaincy option for each week.

The difference with this year’s captaincy advice is they won’t be telling you who is the best captain selections overall or even ranking them, but instead explaining given the players they have available who’ll they will be selecting and why!

Troy:
VC: Danger averages almost 150 versus the Crows in his last three. Would take a repeat of that in a heartbeat.

C: Max Gawn scored 168 against the Bombers last year. Paddy Bines plays after Melbourne so can be given the armband if needed.

Dave:
The danger to take on the Crows into Macrae.

Rob:
Danger VC against his old side, red hit form and great record and again will go Macrae as the Captain

Russ:
VC: Oliver up against the Bombers I feel will go large 120+. C: The Pies are flying, that is why I feel Treloar will be your man with a score of 125+.

Bakas:
VC – Danger back to his best last week and coming up against his former side is the obvious choice for the VC. C – Will back Fyfe once again who will have a point to prove after copping some flack from the media this week.

Troy:
VC: Danger averages just over 130 against his former team in his last three. Another one of those and the loophole is deployed.

C: The Pies scored 2127 total fantasy points against the Tigers last week, GWS get their turn this round so let’s chase those points and give Cogs a chance to redeem himself.

Dave:
Going with Matt Crouch to be the Thursday night accumulator into Adam Treloar

Rob:
Defenders against Richmond have dominated in the first 2 weeks, so with that in mind going a little different and giving Whitfield the VC into Macrae

Russ:
VC: Danger up against his old side who loves to play against, this week 120+. C: Its time for Cripps to go large. This week I feel he will go 135+.

Bakas:
VC – A fired up dees outfit will be determined to get their season back on track. Backing Brayshaw to have a night out against the struggling bombers. C – Cogs gets a chance to redeem himself after burning many coaches including myself. Some attention may be taken off him with Whitfield’s good form.
